BOOK LAUNCH: Confessions of a London River Hunter by John Rogers

Monday November 9 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Join us for an evening with celebrated psychogeographer, writer and filmmaker John Rogers to help celebrate his dazzling new book CONFESSIONS OF A LONDON RIVER HUNTER, published by our great friends over at Three Imposters.

London is a city of rivers: there are said to be over 350 rivers and streams in Greater London. Most have slipped from the consciousness of the city yet they trickle on through parks and open spaces, behind houses and under roads, winding their stories through the fabric of London and whispering their legends. From the western marshes of the Yeading Brook to the lost river of Leytonstone, the channels of the moon goddess, a haunted stream, long buried City tributaries and a brook rescued from the thickets, John Rogers walked some of London’s most storied watercourses that rarely get acknowledged, and attempts to find a way to hear their tales.

John Rogers has spent more than two decades walking and documenting the overlooked landscapes of London both in text and video. He is the author of This Other London: Adventures in the Overlooked City; Welcome to New London: Journeys and Encounters in the Post-Olympic City; and The Black Path. His films include London Overground, made with Iain Sinclair, The London Perambulator, and Make Your Own Damn Art: The World of Bob and Roberta Smith. John was Psychogeographer-in-Residence for Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019 and frequently speaks in public on the subject of London and walking. He lives in East London and continues to explore the city and its hinterland on foot.
