Housmans has been donated the library of Richard Gott, who died in November 2025. Richard was perhaps best known as foreign correspondent and features editor of The Guardian, and for his deep knowledge of the revolutionary history and anti-colonial struggles of Latin America.
Amongst his many published works are Cuba – A New History (Yale, 2005), ‘Britain’s Empire: Resistance, Repression and Revolt’ (Verso, 2011), Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution Paperback (Verso, 2005), and Guerrilla Movements in Latin America (Seagull, 2008).
For a more thorough obituary we would recommend this from his friend, Tariq Ali:

The majority of the books are on the themes of his life’s work, but as the number of books donated was so large, there is a lot more besides. As with all Housmans library sales, all books will be priced at £1, £3 and £5. The sale will start at 11am on 18th April 2026, and will last approximately a couple of weeks.
Housmans are incredibly grateful to Richard’s family for the donation.
