Beyond Diversity: In Conversation with Hajar Press [online event]

Wednesday June 23, 2021 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm BST

It’s no secret that publishing is an exclusive and elitist world. Routinely, reports are carried out that demonstrate the industry’s ‘lack of diversity’ and highlight its damaging toll. Yet, nothing seems to change.

Founded in 2020, Hajar Press strives to build a political community of writers and readers of colour, who are shut out from or exploited within both the UK publishing industry and many conversations and groups on the left.

Join us for a conversation with Hajar’s publishers and Heba Hayek, one of Hajar’s first authors, to explore problems within the publishing industry today, the experiences of writers of colour, and the need for a press by and for POC.
